With every update to this website we will attempt to bring you, the reader valuable tips that will help improve your bowling average. Although the tips will be generalizations, they will, for the majority of bowlers, be useful, informative, and easy to understand.
The topic on this update is not so much to help you improve your score as it is to cover another topic that needs addressing.....Lane courtesy.
Too often, bowlers forget the basic rules of courtesy while on the lanes. Many bowlers who are new to the sport are unaware of the rules, while others seem to have forgotten them.
Below are a few basic rules that, if followed, will make your bowling experience more enjoyable.
1. When one person is up and ready to begin their approach, do not rush ahead of them to make your approach and delivery on the adjoining lane.
2. When 2 people, on adjoining lanes enter the approach at the same time, allow the person to the right to proceed first, providing that person does not have to wait for the person on the lane to their immediate right to proceed.
3. Cat calls and other rude or distracting remarks and/or comments are discouraged, whether the person is bowling on your lanes or on adjoining lanes.
4. Horseplay is discouraged, as well as running through the settee area. Not only is it distracting to the other bowlers, but it can be dangerous. It also can cause a delay in the game, as you are not ready to bowl when it is your turn, causing your team mates to have to wait for you.
Basically, remember to treat others in the manner in which you would like to be treated while bowling. As with any other competitive activity, good sportsmanship will make the game more enjoyable for all concerned.
